Jimboomba Little Athletics

FAQs

What ability level does my child need to join little athletics?

A Little Athletics, the emphasis is on Family, Fun & Fitness and our Friday nights are very much focused on skills building and improvement. Children can join with any level of skill or fitness and are given plenty of encouragement to achieve personal bests. Most of our kids come because it’s fun and they get to make new friends!

What happens on a typical Friday night of competition?

Each week, usually on the Thursday evening, the program outlining the events each age group will be doing, will be posted on our Jimboomba Little Athletics Facebook page. This is a public page and can be accessed whether or not you have a Facebook account.

For Athletes: At the start of each night, athletes will head down to the track to find their Age Group trolleys. They can pop their belongings in the trolley if they wish and gather here with the other athletes from their age group to be marked off as present by the Age Marshal. At 5.45pm, all athletes will move to the centre of the track do a group warm-up session together.  Afterwards, at 6pm, they will then move with their individual age groups to their first allocated event.

For Parents: While the athletes warm up, our Centre Manager usually provides an update to parents. Also, to allow each age group run smoothly through their events, we rely on parents helpers. (This is also a great way to get to watch your child up close!). For each Age Group we need:

Age Marshal: Someone to organise the athletes for each event. They collect the Age Group folder from the clubhouse and wear a high-vis vest so they are easily recognisable.

Parent Helpers: at least 3 parents are needed to assist during the night for each age group to organise, measure and record the field events for their age group. A trolley with all equipment required will be already be at the event.

On average the night usually concludes around 8 – 8.30pm, give or take, depending on the events scheduled and the number of athletes in the age group.

Please Note: Athlete/s are not to be left at the club grounds unattended and a parent/guardian must remain on the club grounds at all times while they are participating in club events.

What events are offered?

Events offered are dependent on the athlete’s age and the program for that week. Some events have age restrictions on them, but in general most kids will get to do a mix of running, throwing and jumping events each week.

How do I find out my child’s results for the week?

Your athlete’s weekly results are loaded onto an online portal called Results HQThis is the same portal you used to create a family account and register your athlete. To access the portal simply sign-in with your email and the password you created.

Please allow a few days for all results to appear as sometimes there is a lag in uploading results information.

Can my child try Little Athletics before joining?

Yes! We offer a 2 week trial for $20. And if you do decide to register after your trial period, the $20 will be deducted from your registration price. Further information regarding trials or joining our club can be found on on our Registration Page.
